Meet The Producers

Stroudco is a co-operative of producers and consumers. At the last count we had 58 producer members - see the list below. Not all producers are trading on Stroudco all the time. Go to the ‘food hub’ tab to see the current list.

Here is an introduction to some of our producer members:

Mark Harrison of Stroud Community Agriculture says “Most of our produce goes to our farm supporters but it is great to be able to sell our biodynamic veg and meat through Stroudco too. It allows people to try out our produce on a week-by-week basis before they commit to becoming an SCA member”

Helen Brent-Smith and Dave Kaspar run Days Cottage “Our Apple Juice, Cider and Perry are made from local, unsprayed apples which means that they are better than organic because organic standards allow a limited amount of fruit spraying. However, because the orchards we pick from are often derelict we cannot go for organic certification. But we can explain this to our Stroudco customers via the website and if people have any questions or special orders they can get in touch with us directly. It is great to see Stroudco sales growing steadily and to meet the Stroudco customers at our orchard events ”

Rob Holditch of Stroud Valleys Pork says “I rear pigs as a hobby and we are fortunate in the Stroud area that there are many areas of woodland, rough ground and small enclosures where rare breed pigs thrive. If you went back 50 years there were many pig keepers in the stroud area and the pig was an important resource for many families. Rare breed pigs like the Tamworth are slow growing but very hardy and ptoduce a meat with much greater flavour. For a small specialist producer like myself Stroudco provides the ideal way to supply to local customers and I am really pleased with the support Stroudco has given me in marketing my range of free range pork, bacon and other specialist charcuterie. I enjoy hearing back from the Stroudco customers – one said recently that my pork was the best he had ever tasted!”

Melissa Ravenhill runs Woefuldane Dairy and says; “My cows graze Minchinhampton Common and we sell their milk, cream and cheese from our shop in the village. It is a really easy boost to my sales to get a single pre-paid order every week from Stroudco and leave them to get it to all their customers across Stroud.”

Greg Pilley of Stroud Brewery says:“The brewery doesn’t have a home delivery service, so we can now tell our customers that they can order our beers online through Stroudco and have them delivered to their door every Saturday”

Sally Kinnear at Stroud Bakery says: “I am passionate about making tasty, nutritious real breads. I started out selling to friends and neighbours but now Stroudco distribute it for me to their 520+ customers”
